Cardiff Arms Park will play host to the world’s newest elite rugby sevens competition this September as Ultimate Sevens brings its inaugural Championship to the Welsh capital.

The iconic home of Cardiff Rugby has been confirmed as one of four venues for the groundbreaking competition, with the Cardiff leg taking place on Saturday September 12, 2026.

Ultimate Sevens is a new global rugby sevens Championship featuring six clubs, each with men’s and women’s teams, competing across four European cities in a fast-paced, high-intensity format designed to showcase the very best of the sport.

Cardiff joins Madrid, Biarritz and London as host cities for the inaugural Championship, underlining the city’s reputation as one of world rugby’s great homes.

Fans attending Cardiff Arms Park can expect a full day of world-class sevens action, with the sport’s biggest stars competing in a series of short, high-stakes matches. The competition has already announced a number of marquee players, including Australian sensation Maddi Levi, Spain international Manu Moreno, Henry Hutchison and Abbie Brown.

Ultimate Sevens Managing Director Barney Pascall said:

“The announcement of our inaugural season feels very special” explained Barney Pascall, the Ultimate Sevens Managing Director.

“These four cities give us an incredible balance of rugby heritage and emerging markets, each a platform to launch a Championship that is fast, global, inclusive and built around the athletes and fans that make sevens so special.

“Our ambition has always been to create something that elevates rugby sevens, celebrates the best players in the world and delivers a live experience that feels fresh, accessible and unforgettable. This September, that becomes real. The venues have been chosen carefully for their connection to the local communities and their ambition to deliver a first-class experience for fans.”

Tickets for the Cardiff event will go on general sale at 12pm (UK time) on Friday, July 17.

Adult tickets for the Cardiff event start from £25, with child tickets available from £10. Family, accessible and premium experience packages will also be available.
