Young excited for Friday night opener to URC campaign

First Team News | 5th August 2022

Cardiff could not ask for a better opening fixture than a Friday night showdown with Munster - according to director of rugby Dai Young.

The Blue and Blacks kick-off their United Rugby Championship season with a Cardiff Arms Park clash against the Irish province on September 17.

Friday nights always generate an electric atmosphere at the iconic city centre ground and Young is relishing the start of the 2022-23 season.

He said: “It’s great to have sight of our fixtures for the season ahead and the excitement is beginning to build for what lies ahead.

“Friday nights are always special occasions at Cardiff Arms Park. We are fortunate to have a really passionate and vocal home support and in fixtures like this, under the lights, it reaches another level.

“It is something we all get excited by and I know the boys on the pitch feed off that atmosphere. To combine that with a clash against Munster is superb, they are always one of the top teams in the competition and it promises to be a great occasion.”

Cardiff are currently in the midst of block two in their pre-season preparations and kick-off their friendly fixtures away to Gloucester on September 2. The Blue and Blacks then welcome Zebre Parma to Cardiff Arms Park on September 9, (7.35pm).

The clash with Zebre is included in pre-season packages, while individual match tickets for the first seven rounds of the season go on sale next week.

Tickets for the pre-season friendly against Zebre and Season Membership packages are available now by clicking here.
