Mason Grady praised the team's composure and ability to stick to the game plan following their thrilling comeback win against Scarlets on Saturday evening at Parc Y Scarlets.
Cardiff overturned a 15-0 deficit to secure a hard-fought victory, with Grady reflecting on the side’s resilience under pressure.
“The trick was just stay composed, and stick to the game plan,” said Grady.
“Obviously, it was a bit of a shock being 15-0 down at that point, but I thought we did well to stay composed and stick to the game plan and win the game."
Grady also emphasised how Cardiff were able to return to their trademark style of rugby, contrasting to the previous game against Zebre Parma, where weather conditions hampered their flow.
"A big thing for us this week was playing the way Cardiff play. Probably against Zebre, we didn't do that. Weather dictates that, but I thought we played some good rugby. People did what they were good at, and in the end, we came away with the win."
The back-to-back victories have been a testament to the team's hard work throughout pre-season.
"I think it just shows the hard work the boys have done over pre-season.
“I was only there at the back end, but seeing what they've gone through and how hard they've worked, I think the boys really deserve these two wins."
Grady paid tribute to Cardiff's veteran centre Rey Lee-Lo, who has excelled in the opening two matches of the campaign and has been a big influence on his development.
"Honestly, Rey is such a legend, and I couldn't have asked anyone better to mentor me through my process of coming through.
“Every year is the last year, but he's still going, and I think he's going to end up playing longer than me at this point.
"Defensively, just making reads, staying calm, seeing their little cues, how they play, and the offloading games as well—he's pretty good at that.
“I think for me defensively, it’s probably one of my biggest work-ons, and I think he's probably the best defender at 13 out there to be honest."
