Meet the four Cardiff Blues Lions at the Arms Park

1st May 2013

Cardiff Blues will be holding a free Meet the Blues Lions evening for supporters on Tuesday 7th May, 7.30pm at the Arms Park Clubhouse

Cardiff Blues openside Sam Warburton will lead the 2013 British and Irish Lions squad to Australia, which includes four Blues players.

Warburton will be joined on tour by Alex Cuthbert, who is going on his first Lions tour. Also selected are Jamie Roberts and Leigh Halfpenny who both toured with the Lions to South Africa in 2009. Gethin Jenkins, who will be rejoining the Blues over the summer, has also been selected as part of the squad, his third Lions tour.

Speaking of the Lions selection Cardiff Blues, Wales and Lions fullback Leigh Halfpenny said,

“Luckily my name was out first so I didn’t have to wait too long and when I saw my picture up on the screen I was overjoyed.

“I’m over the moon about being selected.

“It’s the pinnacle of any international players career and what you work had for. It’s an amazing feeling.

“I learnt a lot from last year and how much work has to be put in and when we do start training I want to hit the ground running.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the supporters and well wishers next Tuesday. It should be a great night before all the Blues players meet up with the rest of the Lions squad.”
