Cardiff Rugby are pleased to reveal a series of storyboards produced in partnership with the Cardiff Athletic Club Heritage Committee to celebrate 150 years of the Blue & Blacks.
The striking boards were produced ahead of the club’s 150th Gala Dinner and have now been installed in the Pack Bar, helping bring to life the club’s history.
They chart everything from golden eras, overseas stars, the Lions, Barbarians, cup wins and women’s rugby and are the first step in a move to showcase Cardiff’s rich heritage beyond the Trophy Room and across the ground.
Sixteen further boards were also produced for the latest induction to the Cardiff RFC Hall of Fame and these will also be installed at the Arms Park in the coming weeks.
David Allen, Heritage Committee, “We’ve long had the ambition of trying to promote our heritage more widely throughout Cardiff Arms Park, making it more accessible to both our own fans and visiting supporters alike.
“Having recently completed our new 150th season exhibition in the Trophy Room, this seemed a good time to turn this ambition into a reality.
“The new story boards in the Pack bar cover a whole range of topics from across our incomparable history, including Cardiff’s role in developing the four three-quarter system, our victories over South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, our first women’s team, and our games in Europe and against the Barbarians.
“They have made the Pack a far more attractive place for supporters to visit and we’re indebted to Cardiff Rugby for their sponsorship of this project. It was great to see some many people taking time to read the boards before our recent friendly against Exeter.
“The fifteen boards in the Pack are just a start, with the plan being to locate more boards around the ground to continue our story in coming seasons.”
