Sowden Taylor seeks Heineken Cup boost

This will be the first Heineken Cup match at the Cardiff City Stadium and the Blues are expecting a big crowd for what promises to be a tense encounter.

Cardiff Blues Openside Robin Sowden Taylor feels the match could be the one to kick start their season. Speaking at the Vale of Glamorgan Training Centre, Robin said,

“We probably haven’t had the start we were hoping for on the pitch, but I don’t think we’ve been a million miles away.”

“It’s been more the case of errors by us rather than what teams have been throwing at us that has been our downfall.”

“If we can get things right I think we’ll be in with a decent shout for a good start in the Heineken Cup.”

“We’ve got to be a lot more clinical in the opposition’s twenty two and finish things off rather than coughing up ball in crucial areas.”

“When we get into the opposition area we’ve got to get points on the board and that’s been our problem at the start of the season.”

The Blues have been drawn in Group 5 with Harlequins, Sale Sharks and last season’s quarter final opponents Stade Toulousain and Robin believes that the Cardiff Blues have to be more patient on the pitch to get the wins. Robin added,

“I don’t think there’s anything to panic about, we just have to be patient and things will come good.”

“Every time the players go out on to the pitch we give 100% but whatever reason it doesn’t always come off.”

“For the Heineken Cup I think all the boys will be really excited about getting the campaign underway and Harlequins at home in our new stadium is a great match to do that.”

“It would be fantastic to get a victory and we feel that it’s something we can achieve.”
