Rhiwbina Junior Rugby Team will be crowned the region’s Cash-Back Kings at the Cardiff Blues v Leinster match on Friday the 11 May.
Cath Brobin the Junior Secretary at Rhiwbina RFC was thrilled with the news.
“I’m absolutely delighted that we will be awarded so much money through the Cardiff Blues cash-back scheme. It was a team effort by all parents and children who support the Blues and it’s great to see them doing so well in the league.” said Cath.
By purchasing tickets for Cardiff Blues matches, through the club, Rhiwbina have managed to earn £927 for their junior section as well as new rugby kit from Canterbury of New Zealand.
“The money will go directly to fund our new clubhouse at Cae Delyn Parc , and we hope to receive planning permission shortly. It’s great to see the region ploughing money back in to grass roots rugby.
“Players such as Nick Macleod and James Goode played junior rugby at Rhiwbina and our adopted player is Tom Shanklin who is a great inspiration to the children. He has also very kindly donated some of his welsh kit for an auction we held.
“The U8s were privileged to play at half time during the Cardiff Blues v Leicester Tigers match at the Millennium Stadium, which was a great occasion with so many fans there.” added Cath.
The initiative on group bookings was launched at the start of the season and was very popular with junior clubs and schools throughout the region. The loyalty scheme enabled these organisations to receive £2.50 per ticket for every group booking made through the scheme.
In addition to the direct financial benefits to their organization, the new Cashback Scheme meant that the top earners would receive Rugby Balls, Rugby Kits, Post Pads and a special coaching session form the Cardiff Blues all kindly donated by our sponsors Rhino Rugby, Canterbury of New Zealand and Gilbert.
The Cash-back scheme will continue next season. For further information please contact the Cardiff Blues Ticket Office on 029 2030 2030.
