Blues Versus Scarlets Game Goes Ahead

9th November 2005

The Blues under 18s will be seeking revenge on Wednesday night when they take on the Scarlets in the WRU Regional Championship at Llanharan RFC (kick off 7.15pm).

Following a pitch inspection earlier this afternoon it has been confirmed the game will go ahead. Players should meet at 5.45pm at Llanharan RFC.

Victory over the Dragons, 23-12 at Abergavenny last time out, kept the region on top of the pile with three wins from their four starts this season.

James Egan was amongst the try scorers that day and his contribution could be significant once again if the Blues can match or get the better of the Scarlets up front.

Their only defeat came at Stradey Park back in September when the Scarlets edged a thrilling contest 33-30. Regional High Performance manager Gafyn Cooper said, "That was a great game and the boys will want to reverse the result if they can. I was hugely impressed with the way we played against the Dragons two weeks ago and if we can replicate that performance we will do well."

Since then, the Scarlets have enjoyed mixed fortunes with a defeat at home to the Ospreys two weeks ago when a drop goal from Lee Halfpenny and a Tom Cole penalty left the hosts nursing a second defeat of the campaign.

Gafyn said,

"The weather has been affecting a few games recently, so we are having to change venues at the last minute. We appreciate the support clubs are giving us in helping arrange matches with little notice."

This game was originally scheduled to take place at Sardis Road, Pontypridd.
