Cardiff Blues can confirm that they have agreed terms with Gareth Thomas that will see the former British and Irish Lions Captain return to the Arms Park after his contract with three times Heineken Cup champions Toulouse ends.
Thomas played for Cardiff RFC between 1997 and 2001 and was part of the squad that won the Welsh & Scottish League in the 1999-2000 season.
Robert Norster, Cardiff Blues Chief Executive said,
“Having a player of Gareth’s calibre would be a boost to any squad and we are delighted that Gareth has decided to join Cardiff Blues. Obviously there has been a lot of speculation in the press over recent months regarding Gareth joining the team and that is to be expected considering the profile of the player.
“Gareth’s experience and versatility will be a great addition to the squad we have at the moment and having a world class player such as him joining our ranks shows the ambition we have at the Blues.”
