Will Boyde to depart Cardiff Rugby

First Team News | 16th May 2022

Cardiff Rugby can confirm Will Boyde will leave the club at the end of the season.

The back-row forward joined the Blue and Blacks from the Scarlets in 2019, and has made 32 first team appearances.

However, it has now been mutually agreed that the 27-year-old will be released from the remainder of his contract.

He said: “I would like to thank everyone at Cardiff for the last three years. I have enjoyed my time at the Arms Park, made some great friends and will always be grateful for both the opportunity I was given and the support I received from the fans. I am now looking forward to the next chapter in my life.”

Boyde made 83 appearances, won the PRO14 title and captained the Scarlets on a regular basis before making his switch to the Arms Park.

He quickly established himself as first team regular but spent the majority of last season on the sidelines with an eye injury, which threatened his career.

The back-row forward has made 11 appearances this season and will become the 11th player to depart the club.

Dai Young has paid tribute to Boyde and said: “Will has been an important player for us this season and has obviously been involved in a good number of games. He is a player who always gave his all on the pitch and can be very proud of his career.

“On behalf of everyone at Cardiff Rugby I would like to wish Will all the very best for the future.”
