Newport started the strongest and after a display of excellent ball handling skills by their 3/4 's right wing Taylor Morgan went over for their first try.

Vale hit back with some enterprising forward play and from a ' short penalty' James Little drove forward, releasing the ball to Harry Collier to carry forward passing to Kieran Moroney to complete the move and score. Against a fierce wind Colliers conversion attempt bounced back off the upright . A superb interception on the 1/2 way line by left wing Curtis Aycing saw the wing streak away for Newport’s second try duly converted by Josh Belcher. Vale continued the pressure but the Newport’s defence was superb Half Time score 5-12.

The second half commenced with a strong run by Curtis Aycing to Vale’s 22 meter line, the ball broke loose for Vale no 10 James Whittingham to relieve the pressure with a well struck touch finding kick . Vale mounted attack after attack attempting to break Newport’s stalwart defense with both Lewis Morgwn and Ed Hawley being brought down just from the try line. The last five minutes saw Vale cross the line with Moroney , Little and Collier all having their tries disallowed. Newport’s defence stood firm right till the final whistle to show just how much they had improved to record a deserved win. Final score Newport 12 Vale 5. The Vale B side came up trumps winning 10 points to 5 against the Newport B's
