Cardiff Rugby U18s continued their perfect start to the Regional Age-Grade Championships as they kicked off the second block of fixtures with a bonus-point win over Ospreys.

The young Blue & Blacks enjoyed an impressive first block before breaking for schools and colleges rugby, with Glantaf picking up the A League title.

They returned to action at the Arms Park on Sunday and continued where they left off to make it five from five.

Calen Edwards raced away for a first-half hat-trick to inspire the win.

Evan Hughes secured the bonus-point as he profited from a powerful maul, while Will Adams and Harry Kinsey added finesse with eye-catching tries.

Isaac Manning-Burke added two conversions to bring the full-time score to 34-12 and Under-18s coach Saul Nelson was encouraged by the performance.

“I’m really pleased for the boys,” said Nelson. “Ospreys have a talented group of players that are well coached so to win and score a variety of tries like that is fantastic.

“I’m very proud of the group as a whole, both players and coaches.  A performance like that comes from everyone doing their bit to the best of their ability and that came through all week with the players who weren’t picked training exceptionally well.

“It tells me that we have a great group of young men who understand just who and what they are representing when they arrive at Cardiff Arms Park to train and play.

“I’m really looking forward to next week’s trip to North Wales to take on RGC.  They are always a difficult team to play against and will throw a very different challenge at us.”

Cardiff travel to face RGC on Sunday before returning to host the Scarlets a week later on Sunday, January 25 at the Arms Park (2:30pm).
