Tindall looks ahead to Millennium showdown

England Centre Mike Tindall believes the Cardiff Blues versus Gloucester match will be biggest match in Pool 6.

Speaking at the Heineken Cup launch last week the Gloucester Captain said,

“The match in Cardiff is definitely the biggest of our pool games without a doubt. The whole atmosphere and the occasion, playing in such a great stadium, it has all the ingredients to be a fantastic match.”

“I’ve got some good memories of great games at the Millennium Stadium but there have also been some defeats.”

“The number of fans you can get in there and the energy they generate because they are so close to the pitch is bound to be good, and that’s just what you need in a big match.”

“Some of the players might not have experienced that before, and that’s what gets me excited, seeing how they react to it.”

“Since I’ve been at Gloucester we haven’t really played on such a big stage. So it’s a big occasion and we need to get things right to get a victory.”

“I think the club rivalry will replicate the national rivalry. The way the two teams try to play rugby, the brand that Cardiff Blues play, trying to score lots of tries, is similar to what we want to do as well.”

“Hopefully if both teams turn up and play to the best of their abilities it should be a great game of rugby.”

“We had a dodgy start to the season but seemed to have settled down and we’ve found a little bit of form scoring tries, so it’s good timing for us.”

Tindall was reluctant to predict who would be on top of the pool at the end of January saying,

“I’ve been racking my brains about the group and it’s difficult to predict a winner.”

“Some people may think that Calivsano will be an easy match but unfortunately I’ve been to Calvisano and lost. I don’t think it’s a three horse race, it really is going to be up to teams who win their home games and get something away, whether that be a win or a losing bonus point.”

“I think it’s going to be one of the tightest groups and I can see home defeats for all four sides.”
