Tal Joins the Blues

11th June 2007

Cardiff Blues can confirm that they have signed Ospreys wing/centre Tal Selley on a one year loan deal.

The 27 year old has recently shone in the IRB sevens in Twickenham and at Murrayfield. He has been outstanding on the Sevens circuit throughout the season and showed his pace when he gathered from the back of a line-out on the Fijian 22 metre line, and ghosted through the Fijian defence in the Welsh landmark victory over the Islanders in Scotland.

Selley was first called up to the Welsh squad in 2004 for the summer tour of Argentina and South Africa, but it was on the tour of North America that Selly made his debut. He touched down for a try in the 77 to 3 win over the USA Eagles. The former Pembroke Comprehensive School pupil, went on to play for the Llanelli Scarlets before joining the Ospreys in 2006.

Speaking of the loan arrangment, Director of Coaching, David Young said:
"We are pleased to welcome such a talented and versatile player as Tal to our squad. We sincerely hope that Tal's recent form on the Sevens circuit is something he can transfer into the 15 man game."
