Cardiff Council’s Sports Development team has launched a brand new and exciting website.

The new site is home to Sport.Cardiff, a scheme which focuses on the improvement of grassroots sport development in schools, clubs and communities across the city.

The programme aims to enrich the lives of the people of Cardiff through clubs, coaching and competition with a focus on children and young people.

The new internet resource offers a convenient guide to the initiative which intends to make sport accessible to people of all ages and abilities.

Throughout the pages you can find out what's going on in sport in Cardiff, including opportunities to get involved in sport development programmes, events, coaching courses and volunteering.

As well as providing practical guidance on setting up and running a sports club, the site also explains ways in which people can get involved in sport development which is the main focus of the initiative.

Sport.Cardiff relies on the commitment of coaches and volunteers who give their time and energy to provide sporting opportunities for people and ensure the continued success of clubs.

They encourage children to get involved in one of the 350,000 participatory opportunities in Cardiff so that sport becomes a lifelong experience.

Cardiff plays host to many high profile sporting events at both national and international levels and Sport.Cardiff representatives can be found at many of these events helping to make the link from ‘street to stadium’.

Cardiffhas a long rich history of encouraging and supporting its people in the participation of sport and physical activity. The support is given to all ages and abilities in the hope of providing strong values, healthy lifestyles and improved quality of life.

Executive Member of Sport, Leisure and Culture Cllr Nigel Howells said: “Sport.Cardiff continues to do a fantastic job encouraging and developing sport for young people in Cardiff. Their contribution to Cardiff’s vision to be a World Class Capital for Sport is invaluable and this new website is a one stop resource to learn about their work and get involved in this extremely successful and worthwhile initiative.”

The programme is delivered with several of Sport.Cardiff key partners including Cardiff Blues, Cardiff City Football Club, Cardiff Devils, Glamorgan Cricket, Sports Council for Wales and UWIC.
