Patchell pleased with determined show

13th September 2013

Fly half Rhys Patchell praised the 'grit and determination' in the Cardiff Blues camp as they overcome battling Connacht Rugby at the Arms Park on Friday.

Patchell kicked all the points on the night in wet and blustery conditions as Blues recorded a first RaboDirect PRO12 victory of the season.

But the 20-year-old was quick to praise his team-mates as the real heroes in the rain.

"We lost a lot of games by one score or less last season, but we saw a bit of grit and determination to really pull the result out of the bag," he said.

"Conditions weren't great, we were hoping when we woke up it would be nice and dry and we would be able to throw the ball around a bit but it hasn't transpired that way.

"We're thrilled to get the result but there is a lot to work on certainly. I missed a couple of kicks, but all in all I am relatively happy. We have come away with a result and that is the important thing."
