Back row dynamo Josh Navidi has paid tribute to the unwavering support of the fans at Cardiff Blues – and is determined to leave them smiling after Saturday’s game with Zebre.
Cardiff Blues welcome the Italians to BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park (kick-off 3pm) as they aim to try and end the season with a victory.
Zebre will arrive in the Welsh capital eager for the win that could yet propel them over Treviso and into the top tier of European competition.
But for Navidi is plenty of motivation for Cardiff Blues with a number of players set to make their final appearance for the region.
“It’s the final day for some players and others are retiring so there will be plenty of emotion out there,” he admitted. “Hopefully we can get the win and sign-off properly.
“The fans have been right behind us all year and we thank them for that. They have been fantastic and we want to put a smile on their faces.
“It’s been a difficult and long year for us. Nobody is hiding from that. A lot has happened but hopefully we can finish on a positive,” he added.
“Whoever takes the top job will have three years and stability; that is encouraging to hear. We want to improve the region, I feel we are on the edge of it and we need to start getting some performances going.
“Zebre have got a lot to play for – we are well aware of that. They are chasing a place in the top European competition so will have plenty of motivation,” he said.
“They want to overtake Treviso, but it’s a home game for us and the last game of the season. We have plenty to play for and will come out firing.”
