Wales head coach Richard Whiffin has named five Blue and Blacks in his side to face Italy in the 7th place final in the World Rugby U20 Championship at Stadio Mario Battaglini in Rovigo on Saturday (KO 2.30pm).
Cam Tyler-Grocott has been selected in the front row, Sion Davies and Tom Bowen named in the backs, while Harri Wilde and Elijah Evans are on the bench.
In the backs Elijah Evans drops down to the bench to allow Tom Bowen to come in on the left wing with Adian Boshoff switching sides to start on the right.
Elis Price returns at inside centre for Steffan Emanuel while Harri Ford gets the nod at No 10 with Harri Wilde dropping to the bench.
Hooker Evan Wood will have two new players either side of him in the front row with Tyler-Grocott set for his debut at loosehead prop while Dragons’ Owain James starts at tighthead.
The only other change in the pack sees Exeter Chiefs lock Luke Evans start alongside Kenzie Jenkins in the second row.
Wales will be looking to bounce back and finish the championship with a flourish after losing to England in the last round of games.
“Even at halftime 17-13 down we were right in the game against England playing well but in the second half we didn’t have a foothold in the game to try and put our game on them, they strangled us really,” said Whiffin.
“We have had to recover quickly and reassess for our final game against Italy. We will have to be wary as they have shown what they can do at this level in recent times and they have always proved formidable in the Six Nations.
“Saying that, the boys want to finish strongly and they fully deserve to after the work they have put in out here, for little reward.”
