Cardiff Rugby are pleased to announce David Allen as inaugural Supporter Advisor to the Board of Directors following completion a formal appointment process.

The club began a search for a Supporter Advisor in October in an attempt to further modernise its governance and improve communication and engagement with all supporters.

Cardiff Rugby chairman Alun Jones said: “We are really pleased to confirm David as our first Supporter Advisor to the board and hope fans see this as another positive step in the continued strengthening and modernisation of our governance.

“Our supporters are the lifeblood of the club and while we already work closely with a number of supporter organisations, this will strengthen those links and ensure they are properly represented.

“David possesses all of the qualities required to fulfil this role and act as an effective conduit between the wider supporter group and the board. We look forward to working closely with David and congratulate him on his appointment.”

The former CF10 Trust chair is a lifelong supporter of Cardiff Rugby and is currently enjoying his 50th season as a member.

He is also a member of the Cardiff Athletic Club heritage committee, a former member of the Cardiff RFC committee and was a lead author on the recently published Cardiff Arms Park, An Architectural and Social History.

David added: “I’m delighted to be appointed as Cardiff Rugby’s first Supporter Advisor.

“CF10 Trust have campaigned for supporter representation at board level for several years and it’s to the credit of Cardiff Rugby that it has taken the bold step of establishing this post.

“The board and I share the ambition of ensuring that supporters are front and centre of future developments at the club. I hope to be able to do justice to that ambition and look forward to working with the various supporter groups in the New Year.”
