Cardiff Rugby are delighted to secure the services of Danny Southworth on a long-term contract at the Arms Park.
The Welsh-qualified loose-head prop joined the Blue & Blacks last summer from Exeter Chiefs and has enjoyed an impressive first campaign in the capital.
Southworth has made 17 appearances through the season, scoring one try while consistently displaying his set-piece prowess, work-rate and explosive power on both sides of the ball.
The 26-year-old has been pleased with his move to Cardiff and with his long-term future secured, he is determined to continue individual and collective growth.
He said: “I’m really happy to agree a new deal here. I was welcomed into the group from day one and I’m loving living in Cardiff, it’s a brilliant city. The Arms Park is also special and we are fortunate to
“It’s great to be playing consistently and getting so many minutes is really allowing me to develop my game and I’m determined to continue that.
“I hope I have added something to the group and with the talent and potential we have, I really believe we can achieve something special together.
“I’m happy to commit myself to Cardiff long-term and look forward to seeing where myself and this group can go.”
Southworth will continue competing with Corey Domachowski, Ed Byrne and Rhys Barratt for the number one jersey and Matt Sherratt believes he will continue his impressive development at the Arms Park.
He added: ”Danny has had an excellent first season at the Arms Park. He has made himself a regular in the match day squad, shown his strength around the set piece and developed his game in attack and defence.
“Added to that he has fitted in well in our environment and we look forward to seeing him develop further in Blue and Black”
