Cardiff Blues will launch finals night, screened live on BT Sport, when they tackle Leicester Tigers (kick-off 6pm) and the region have named a squad full of true Sevens pedigree.

A total of nine players have represented Wales Sevens and Blues will once again be led by Richard Smith.
Wales Sevens ace Rhys Shellard is also called up while young winger Harry Davies is given a chance to shine on the big stage in London.

Tomos Williams and Dan Fish are among the senior first team players who impressed in the Welsh leg of the Premiership 7s Series who are once again named in the 12-man squad.

Paul John, Attack Coach at Cardiff Blues and former Wales Sevens boss, said: “We’re excited about taking part in the Premiership Rugby 7s Series Final. I’m sure the night will be a fantastic spectacle for fans and packed full of entertaining and attacking rugby.

“We have a lot of Sevens experience in our squad, but know we face a stern test against the best talent in England. We’re all looking forward to that cross border challenge.

“A number of our younger players really impressed in the opening leg at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park last month. The likes of Tomos Williams, Dafi Davies, Ben Roach, Garyn Smith, Owen Jenkins and Harry Davies will really benefit from this experience and taking part in finals night.”

Captain Richard Smith added: “Playing against the English teams will make the occasion extra special for us. You want to go and do your region proud but at the same time we will be representing Wales so want to do the country proud as well.

"It’s also a great opportunity for the younger boys to get a run out and show what they can do on a big game. There will be a big crowd at the Stoop and it will be a great experience.”
