Forwards Coach Dale McIntosh has called on Cardiff Blues to produce the right send-off for the fans and departing players when they face Zebre at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
The curtain will fall on the Guinness PRO12 season for Cardiff Blues on home soil and McIntosh admits it is set to be an emotional affair.
A number of players – including Adam Jones, Filo Paulo and Joaquin Tuculet –have confirmed they will leave Blues at the end of the season and McIntosh wants them to go out in winning style.
And he is determined to give the home supporters something to smile about after a difficult campaign.
“It’s been a tough season; that goes without saying,” he said. “But we really want to give the fans a good send-off. We all wish it could be better, but all we can do is put in a massive performance in the final game.
“What we have concentrated on this week is making sure people are fit and energised. It has been a short turnaround since Scarlets and we have had to look at ourselves, what we are about. We have to play to the best of our ability and get the right result for the supporters.
“Rugby is game is about people; good people with good ethics and values,” he added. “A number of players will leave us and you look at someone like Adam Jones who has been fantastic.
“He has worked tirelessly here and even in the last few weeks, when we have picked players like Craig Mitchell and Scott Andrews ahead of him because they are the future of Cardiff Blues, he has got his head down and worked hard.
“He will start against Zebre and deserves to be clapped off BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park for all he has achieved in Wales.”
