Cardiff Blues will face Newcastle Falcons and Stade Francais in the 2020/21 Challenge Cup preliminary stage.

Wales' Capital Region have lifted the European trophy on two occasions, with the most recent of those being in 2018, where they famously beat Gloucester in a thrilling final in Bilbao.

The hunt for a third title starts on Friday, December 11 (KO 8.00pm), as they travel to Kingston Park to take on Dean Richard's Falcons, who have recently been promoted to the Gallagher Premiership.

Round two and three sees two capital cities going head-to-head, as John Mulvihill's side welcome Stade Francais to Wales on Sunday, December 20 (KO 5.30pm).

The return leg takes place on Saturday, January 16 (KO 9.00pm local time) as Cardiff Blues return to Stade Jean-Bouin for the first time since 2017.

The preliminary stages will come to an end as Cardiff Blues host Newcastle Falcons a week later, on Saturday, January 23 (KO 8.00pm)

Cardiff Blues have had famous battles against both sides over the years.

They took on Stade Francais in a thrilling Champions Cup qualifier in Paris in 2017, with the Parisian outfit coming out on top 46-21.

Meanwhile, Newcastle were Cardiff Blues' quarter final opponents in the 2010 Challenge Cup quarter final. In a complete performance, the Welsh side secured a stunning 55-20 win on their way to a first European title.
