Blues on Tour: Final preparations complete

20th June 2014

Final preparations for the World Club 10s at the Singapore Sports Hub are complete as Cardiff Blues took part in a team run at the 55,000-seater National Stadium on Friday morning.

The players took to the field at the stadium as they get ready to tackle the hot humid weather conditions and some of the best teams from around the globe.

The World Club 10s takes place this weekend (Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22) with Blues competing in Pool B on the opening day alongside the Brumbies, Asia Pacific Dragons and Petrarca Rugby. Pool A will see Auckland Blues, Biarritz, London Welsh and Samoa Water Presidents 10s all compete.

Scrum half Lloyd Williams was among those to try out the new pitch and was impressed by the new surroundings as he spoke to local media at the end of the team run.

“It’s a fantastic stadium and we’re all looking forward to the tournament and seeing how we go,” he said.

“Nobody is really sure what to expect from any of the teams and 10s is a new game for many of us so it will be exciting to see how it shapes up.

“The weather is obviously a little warmer than back home in Cardiff and we’ve had to get used to that this week. It’s all about hydrating yourself and drinking as much water as you can to deal with it.

“It’s a been a really positive week for all the players here. We’ve had a really hard training camp to get used to the humidity and now we can look forward to day one of the World Club 10s and pushing ourselves as hard as we can in front of what we hope will be a big crowd.”
