Hundreds of guests were at Cottrell Park Golf Resort on Thursday evening as Cardiff Blues held a prestigious Lions & Captains Celebratory Dinner.
The black tie dinner celebrated the British & Irish Lions Test series triumph in Australia and also the fact that Blues provided the captains for the Lions, Wales, Wales Under-20s and Wales Sevens this summer.
Compering on the evening were Phil Steele and Tom Shanklin and guests enjoyed two Q&A sessions during the night with the stars from Cardiff Arms Park.
The special event also saw the best in fine dining with three great chefs for the event. Chef Anand George, from the Purple Poppadom, created a trio of starters, Spiros Fine Dining Caterers the main course and Massimo Zucchero Pâtisserieo the desserts.
Richard Holland, Chief Executive at Cardiff Blues, said: “In total we had 24 players playing international rugby this summer and were proud to provide the captains to the Lions (Sam Warburton), Wales (Bradley Davies), Wales Under-20s (Ellis Jenkins) and Wales Sevens (Adam Thomas).
“The highlight of a superb summer of sport was the performance of the British & Irish Lions. We were thrilled for Sam Warburton, Leigh Halfpenny, Alex Cuthbert and Gethin Jenkins as they went down in history by securing a first Test series victory in 16 years.
“The dinner, in the wonderful setting of Cottrell Park Golf Resort, was a fantastic success and a fitting occasion for us to celebrate all of our players’ successes.”
