Jacob Beetham believes Cardiff can take confidence from their home form heading into next weekend’s crucial final regular-season clash with the Stormers despite the defeat to Glasgow.
Cardiff pushed hard against a top-of-the-URC-table Glasgow Warriors side, but were unable to secure the bonus point they needed despite already scoring three tries through Josh Adams, Danny Southworth and Beetham.
“We knew coming into this that Glasgow are obviously a really good team and that shows with where they are in the table at the moment,” explained Beetham.
“We knew it was going to be a really tough challenge and we fought really hard through all of that game. Obviously, we lost to the better team in the end.”
Despite the disappointment of defeat, the full-back admitted it was pleasing to get on the scoresheet for what was his first official URC try, despite already scoring in the EPCR this season.
“It’s always nice to go over yourself, but at the end of the day you want to get the win as a team,” added Beetham.
“It’s a tough feeling after any sort of loss, especially a loss like that.”
Attention now quickly turns to the team’s final regular-season fixture against the Stormers, with a place in the top eight still on the line.
Beetham believes Cardiff’s strong home form this season, along with a packed-out Arms Park crowd, can provide confidence heading into the decisive encounter.
“We’ve got our last regular-season game against the Stormers next week, which we can hopefully fly into and hopefully confirm our place in that top eight,” continued Beetham.
“I think it will give us loads of confidence, the fact that we’ve only lost one game this year at home.”
“We’re going to do everything to fly into it and hopefully get the result. The main thing is getting that top eight this season.”
