The Blues have enjoyed tremendous support this season with a memorable trip up to Newcastle for many the highlight.
Andy headed to Newcastle with the rest of the cast of Little Britain to try and help the Blues into the semi finals of the Amlin Challenge Cup.
There to meet the players on arrival and give them some words of advice and support, Andy went on to watch the Blues race to an emphatic victory and could only watch on as Bubbles Devere (Joanna Gibson) raced onto the pitch to pesent Paul Tito with champagne darling.
Vicky Pollard – played by Alun Collins, one of Andrew’s Best Men, organised the whole cast who had travelled from far and wide to join Andrew in Newcastle.
Andy, in this case Andrew McCarthy, just happened to be in Newcastle on his stag weekend, the traditional pre wedding preparation, before the main event in Kefalonia on June 3rd.
Whilst the Newcastle trip was in full flow, his bride to be Heidi Nilsen herself a rugby player for Cardiff Quins Ladies and Norway – was in Windsor enjoying the sights and being placed in fancy dress befitting of such an occasion.
Speaking after returning home safely Andrew said, “Newcastle was an awesome place to visit, surrounded by a great group of mates, a great victory and a weekend i won’t be forgetting in a hurry.”
“The biggest issue (apart from the wedding!) now will be how we top this when the Blues get into the final.”
” I’ve very faith that they won’t be stung by Wasps and we’ll have some silverware by the end of the season.”
“The players and staff were awesome and all came over for photos – I don’t think they knew what had hit them to be honest!”
Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby, David Young added, “The supporters have been great this season and it was good to see so many of them up in Newcastle.”
“I’m glad we were able to put a smile on their faces with the win and Andrew and his mates certainly made all the coaches and players laugh with their costumes.”
“I hope they had a great stag trip and would like to wish Andrew and Heidi the best of luck with their wedding in Kefolonia.”
The Blues play the London Wasps this Saturday, the Blues are sure to take a large boisterous crowd who will hopefully cheer on the boys to victory and to the final of the Amlin Cup.
