Cardiff have named a strong squad as they begin the defence of their Women’s Under-18 Regional Age-Grade Championship on Sunday.
The Blue and Blacks were crowned champions last year and kick-off their 2024 campaign against RGC Du at Ystrad Mynach.
A number of last season’s title-winning side remain eligible once again and their new head coach is full of optimism ahead of the opening encounter.
Anela Majozi said: “the anticipation is certainly reaching its peak as we gear up for our first fixture of the season against RGC this Sunday. There’s excitement amongst the squad about the team’s steady and positive buildup, which has been evident in the increasing intensity and enthusiasm among the players.
“The squad boasts a dynamic blend of fresh new players and a number of experienced players, which has created a healthy competitive environment within the group. Due to the limited preparation time, it’s important that we look to select players who are on form and players who embody what we are about through their commitment and efforts at training.
“We are a new look coaching staff, but we are fortunate to have a couple of coaches from the previous group with a winning legacy, and we aim to evolve those solid structures to keep this new group of players engaged, stimulated, and focused on improvement.
“Cardiff Rugby is at its best when every player on the pitch contributes to the collective effort. As a group of players, we thrive on the tough challenge ahead of us this Sunday against RGC, and we are geared up for an exciting season. If the girls play with confidence and with freedom to express themselves, we will be a formidable outfit to face.
“The women’s game is getting stronger and faster by the seasons, and we hope to see loads people out there supporting these young women and their respective regions this weekend.”
