Danny Wilson has turned attention to the European Challenge Cup and is determined to see Cardiff Blues reach the quarter-finals.

The Blues currently sit second in Pool Four, level on points with Bath whose superior head-to-head points the difference.

With two fixtures remaining, all is to play for with both top spot and best runners-up places up for grabs.

Wales’ Capital Region travel to France to face Section Paloise (Pau) on Saturday and Wilson is relishing the occasion.

He said: “We sit joint top of the pool and we now have the opportunity, if we win two games, to have a quarter-final and go for some silverware.

“That’s a competition we’re very much in, we’re still seventh in the league but we have to climb to put pressure on the group above us, and of course Europe is a big opportunity.”

The Blues go into the encounter on the back of a disappointing 29-15 defeat to Glasgow Warriors in Scotland.

Wilson admits his side were dominated for the majority of the game but pointed to a number of opportunities they must convert to stay in high pressure encounters.

He added: “Territory and possession was certainly in their favour and we didn’t build enough pressure.

“We went in 10-7, having weathered a bit of storm and got back to 10-all just after half-time and we were in the game. But that dominance in terms of territory and possession from them eventually cracked us and they scored a couple of tries.”
