Williams starts at scrum half as Wales welcome Scotland to Cardiff

International | 10th February 2022

Tomos Williams retains the number nine jersey as Wales welcome Scotland to Cardiff for the second round of Guinness Six Nations action on Saturday (KO 2.15pm).

The Cardiff star continues his half back partnership with captain Dan Biggar as Wayne Pivac's men look to back bounce from last week's disappointment in Dublin.

The 30-cap scrum half is joined in the matchday squad by two of his Blue and Blacks team-mates in Dillon Lewis and Seb Davies, who are both named on the bench.

Prop Lewis was a replacement against Ireland on the opening day, while Seb Davies was ruled out at the eleventh hour at the Aviva Stadium with a back spasm.

Former Cardiff pathway products also feature in the returning Alex Cuthbert, wing Louis Rees-Zammit and replacement outside half Callum Sheedy.

Pivac has made a total of four changes to his starting line-up, with Ospreys back row Jac Morgan drafted in for his Test debut. He's joined by Ross Moriarty, introduced at number eight, with Cuthbert and centre Owen Watkin brought into the back line.

Outside half Biggar and centre Jonathan Davies are both in-line to win their 100 caps on the international stage, with the latter named amongst the replacements.

Wales head coach Wayne Pivac said:“We expect Scotland to come down full of confidence. They’ve started with a good win. Across the board they are very competitive and committed side that throws everything at every play. We know that’s going to be tough work for us and a big challenge that we’re looking forward to and are up for.

“Really excited about to getting out in front of a full house at Principality Stadium for our first home match of the 2022 Guinness Six Nations. There is nothing better.”
