Wilkins insists Wales Women must find consistency

Robyn Wilkins insists Wales Women need to find consistency in their performances following their defeat to England at Twickenham Stoop last week.

The defending champions charged to a 66-7 home victory, but the final round of Women's Six Nations action was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Cardiff Blues playmaker insists there were positives in Wales’ performance against England, but says they need to ensure they perform for the full 80 minutes.

“We knew it was going to be difficult, and it followed the tale of the French game we managed to do a lot of good things in the first half,” said Wilkins.

“In the second half they had the wind with them and they got over the gain line way too easy.

“A team like England are so clinical and they showed their class today.

“You can never fault the effort of the girls. We’re a passionate bunch.

“England is billed as a rivalry and we had a point to prove, so you can’t fault that effort the girls put in.

“We just need to make sure we’ve got that consistency in attack and defence where sometimes we’ll defend for 20 phases while other times they get over the try line after two.

"There were positives out there. There were times where we were forcing them to work through the phases and forcing them to kick.

“In attack we played in the right areas a bit better than in previous games, but we need to make sure when we do get those chances that we don’t cough up the ball as easily as we have done previously.

“The scrum was outstanding and they set their stall out from the first scrum where they drove England back and they kicked on from there for the whole game.”
