Amateur Ospreys XV 15-22 Amateur Blues XV
The Amateur Blues XV won their first match of the new WRU REGIONAL COMMUNITY CHAMPIONSHIP held at Dunvant RFC.

The game started with the Ospreys getting the immediate upper hand, their backs who ran everything from the whistle dominated the first 15 minutes going to into the break with a 10 nil lead. The Blues forwards then began to exert control and from a scrum in the right hand corner the Blues pack shunted the Ospreys pack over the line for Abercynon No8 Geraint Turner to score the push over try. Ten minutes later another scrum under the Ospreys posts again saw their pack buckle under the pressure, with the Blues pack again heading for a push over try, scrum half Rhys McCarthy of Fairwater picked up and went over for the second Blues try to make it 10 points all. A conversion by Abercynon full back Matthew Turner put the Blues ahead 12-10, and another penalty by Turner in the second half pushed that to 15-10.

The Ospreys pack who had been completely outplayed, made three changes and these substitutions went a long way to getting them back into the game. A missed catch from a high ball allowed Ospreys to score an unconverted try and put the score at 15 points all. With ten minutes to go and with the Blues forwards back in control substitute lock Jon Campbell from Barry R.F.C. crashed over for his first try in senior rugby. Matthew Turner added the conversion to make the score 22-15, with 2 minutes to go Turner hit the post with a long range penalty which resulted in the Ospreys throwing everything at the Blues to no avail.

The Blues are back in action next Tuesday night 29th November against North Wales at Abercynon R.F.C. 7.30PM
