Two-try Harries delighted with Bedford Blues victory

First Team News | 15th September 2019

Jason Harries was delighted to bag two tries as Cardiff Blues took the latest step in their preparations for the new season with a 39-14 victory over Bedford Blues.

The wing, who was named Cardiff Blues Discovery of the Season following his debut campaign for the region, crossed in either half as the Blues claimed seven tries.

Cardiff Blues dominated from start to finish at Goldington Road and Harries believes it was ideal preparation for the Guinness PRO14 season, which kicks-off with a trip to face Isuzu Southern Kings.

He said: “It’s good to get another blow out in pre-season against Bedford. Some of the boys didn’t play last week so it was good for them to get their first hit out ahead of the Kings in two weeks’ time.

“It’s always nice to score. Garyn put me in for the first and Willis the second. All the work was created on the inside and fair play to the boys for putting me away.

“We had a good start and scored some great tries, it’s always good to get those tries in early and build our game from there. Through the middle periods of the game we put more tries on the board.

“But they’re a good side, they have their qualities and we knew we had to be at our best today to really put it to them and we came away with a good victory in the end.

“It’s building nicely, most of the boys had a run out last week, a few of the injured boys came back and got 30, 40 minutes so we’re building nicely towards to Kings in two weeks.”

Following the trip to South Africa, Cardiff Blues return to Wales to host Edinburgh on Saturday, October 5. Tickets and Season Memberships are available now by clicking here or calling 029 20 302030.
