Turnbull relishes Leinster challenge

First Team News | 28th January 2022

Josh Turnbull is relishing the challenge of facing the defending URC champions as Cardiff welcome Leinster to the capital on Saturday.

Saturday’s encounter was due to be the third in a series of clashes against champions of Europe’s top leagues, but the clash in Toulouse last week was cancelled due to a Covid outbreak in the hosts’ squad.

However, despite the recent fixture disruptions, Turnbull is champing at the bit at the prospect of running out in front of the Cardiff Arms Park crowd once again.

The Welsh international said: “With the current climate of what we’re living with, disruptions are something we have to deal with on a week-to-week basis.

“Ultimately we can only play what’s in front of us, but we’ve trained well and looking forward to playing against Leinster.

“We were a little unfortunate not to have the chance to face Toulouse as we could’ve faced all three champions back-to-back.

“Ultimately we want to test ourselves against the best teams and we know it won’t be any easier against Leinster this weekend.”

The club captain continued: “The Dragons home game in October was the last time I played in front of a crowd.

“All the boys involved this week are just looking forward to getting back out there in front of their friends, families and all the fans.

“We appreciate their support so much and we want to hear them in full voice this week.”
