Post-match reaction | Winger Theo Cabango felt that Cardiff were the better team and deserved to win their BKT United Rugby Championship match against Ulster at Kingspan Stadium on Friday night.
Cabango scored two tries on his return to the starting XV after injury and thought he had grabbed a hat-trick before his third try was controversially disallowed, which enabled the home side to clinch a dramatic victory in the dying seconds of the game.
“I thought it was in but to be honest I wasn’t really thinking the hat-trick at the moment, I was just thinking about the team,” said Cabango.
“I just thought we won it and I thought we deserved it to be honest. Don’t get me wrong while they are a very good team as they’ve shown on the table, but today I thought we won.
“Without looking at the scoreboard I thought we deserved it and I thought we won but I guess that’s just the game.
“I think everyone’s emotions are all over the shop at the moment, but that’s just the sport. Some days it goes your way and some days it doesn’t.
“Obviously today wasn’t our day, but we can’t fault all the performance from the boys. I felt like we deserved it, but hopefully now we can just put everything into next week and just get the performance we need.
“At the half-time, spoke about what we need to improve and I think we went out there and executed it, but it’s just one of those days, but hopefully we can put it behind us and put a good match in for next week.
“I think throughout the whole year we’ve been playing really good rugby. We’ve been a bit unlucky, whether it’s our fault or some crucial decisions, but it’s the game and I think we’ve shown other teams about what we can do.
“Obviously as a winger I want to be scoring, but to be honest, for me, I just want to be back playing for this team because I’ve been here my whole life and I do really love this club. I’m just happy to be back playing for this team.”
