Team selection delayed

Cardiff Blues’ team to play the Ospreys next Sunday is not likely to be finalised until the weekend of the game.

Head coach David Young explained.

“We have a reasonably clean bill of health in the squad at the moment but, of course, several players are with the Six Nations’ squad. Although the 22-man Wales squad to play Italy is due to be announced in midweek the likelihood is that the players not included will be retained at the training camp until at least Thursday.

“There is also the possibility that Blues’ players on the replacements’ bench for Wales may be available to play on Sunday, particularly if they don’t have much game time against Italy. In the circumstances I want to keep our selection options open for as long as possible.”

The starting line-up against the Ospreys will be announced on this website as soon as it becomes available, possibly on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile it has been confirmed that the Blues away fixture against the Dragons has been switched Saturday 17 April (kick-off 5.30 pm) to accommodatea live television transmission.
