Taine Basham says he’s relishing life in the capital after producing a standout display that earned him the Man of the Match medal in Cardiff’s latest victory at the Arms Park.
The Wales international flanker was instrumental in the team’s 20–19 victory over Edinburgh on Saturday, breaking through the opposition defence to assist Johan Mulder’s opening try, as well as making a number of important tackles throughout the closely fought contest.
Taine, who joined Cardiff from the Dragons ahead of the current campaign, has quickly settled into life at his new club.
“I’m loving it,” said Basham. “The boys have welcomed me with open arms, even though I’ve come from a rival club. Playing in a packed-out Cardiff Arms Park – there’s nothing better.”

Competition for places in the back row has been fierce, with Basham’s game time steadily increasing across the opening rounds. Despite that, the dynamic forward insists the healthy competition within the squad only raises standards further.
“At the moment, I’m just focusing on Cardiff,” he added. “It’s a new environment and I’m loving every single second of it.”
Basham’s all-action performance typified the work-rate and commitment that have become trademarks of Corniel van Zyl’s side this season, with the flanker already starting to establish himself as a fan favourite in Blue and Black.
