TAG Festival at Peter Lea Primary

6th November 2004

Straight off the back of the half term coaching sessions, Gruff Rees was back in the schools of Cardiff last week conducting his Capital Rugby duties.

Friday was the pinnacle of the weeks coaching and it came in the form of a Capital Rugby Cluster Festival at Peter Lea Primary School.

Seven schools attended the event, Peter Lea, Hywel Dda, St. Fagans, Fairwater, Trelai, Windsor Clive and St Francis and each provided two sides, except St Francis who brought along 4! The result was an afternoon of TAG rugby enjoyed by over 150 boys and girls in years 5 and 6, who all without doubt, showed the skills and positive attitude that has been encouraged throughout the Capital Rugby school visits this year.

Gruff was quick to thank the support he received from the schools which took part in the festival and also gave special praise to accredited coach Ryan Westaway, a former captain of Australia Schools, who has travelled to the U.K. to further his own coaching experience and is a face that will be seen throughout Capital Rugby projects for the remainder of the term.
