Supporters enjoy meeting the players

25th October 2012

The Cardiff Blues meet the players evening, held in the Gareth Edwards Lounge last night, proved a hit with supporters, with over 100 attending.

The night started with Cardiff Blues MC Rob Toogood introducing Andi Kyriacou, Sam Warburton, Harry Robinson, Jason Tovey and Jamie Roberts..

The Blues had received dozens of questions through their facebook and twitter pages.

Robert Green wanted to know ‘which player from previous years do you see yourselves like?’ having sent his question in via twitter. Sam Warburton had no hesitation in naming Martyn Williams.

“When I was a teenager and had a season ticket at the Arms Park I’d always look at what Martyn Williams was doing,” said Sam Warburton.

“He was obviously a player I’d looked up to and was integral to the Grand Slam success in 2005 and 2008.’

“When I started training he was the first player to shake my hand and to play alongside him, with him at 7 and me at 6, was a bit surreal for me at the time.”

“Everybody who knows him will tell you he’s a down to earth guy and hasn’t changed from when he won his first cap to his 100th.”

Bethany Langford also sent her question in via Twitter and wanted to know if Harry Robinson had any ‘lucky pants or anything else that brings you luck?’ much to the amusement of the audience.

Harry replied his only match day habit is to eat porridge for breakfast and Jamie Roberts spilled the beans that Andi Kyriacou’s nickname is Keith Lemon.

It was an enjoyable night, rounded off with a signing session with the Blues stars.
