Skipper Belcher at the double for Blues U18s

29th August 2013

A double-try burst from young hooker Liam Belcher ensured Blues Under-18s secured an impressive 22-10 victory over Dragons in the WRU Regional Age Grade competition at Cardiff Arms Park on Wednesday night.

Captain Belcher crossed twice during the first half as a commanding opening 40 minutes all but secured for Blues.

Prop Rob Lewis got Blues off to a flying start as the front row touched down after five minutes before Dragons fly half Arwel Robson reduced the advantage with a penalty.

A devastating quick-fire brace from Belcher, in the space of just two first half minutes and both converted by outside-half Tyler Williams, saw Blues storm to a 19-3 lead and a further penalty from Williams on the stroke of half-time put the hosts clear.

Dragons scored the only points of the second half with a try from Leon Brown, converted by Robson, but there was to be no comeback as Blues U18s wrapped up a first win on the new Cardiff Arms Park pitch.
