Sir Gareth honoured in Cape Town

12th April 2018

Sir Gareth Edwards was last night honoured at a celebratory dinner at the Villager Rugby Club in Cape Town.

The former Cardiff, Wales and British Lions scrum-half and current Cardiff Blues board member was joined by directors, players and staff from the region and greats of the game in Western Province.

Former Springbok stars including HO de Villiers and Percy Montgomery were both in attendance at the event, which was hosted by SuperSport presenter Matt Pearce.

Edwards has a long and rich association with South African sport following his heroics in the Lions 1974.

Villager chairman Anton Chait, Sir Gareth and de Villiers all address the audience on a hugely successful evening, in which the club were presented with a signed Cardiff Blues jersey.

Everybody at Cardiff Blues would like to extend their thanks to their great friends at Villager for the warm welcome and hospitality.
