Seb Davies signs senior contract

23rd October 2017

Cardiff Blues have continued to secure their home grown talent with Seb Davies the latest player to commit his long-term future to the region.

The Wales international had attracted interest from rival teams but has followed in the footsteps of Rhun Williams and Corey Domachowski by signing his first senior contract at Cardiff Arms Park.

Davies has been in impressive form this season, establishing himself in the first-team squad and he is confident that Wales’ Capital Region is the best place for him to continue his rapid progress.

He said: “I’m really happy to have signed a senior contract with Cardiff Blues. They are my home team and I have come through the system here.

“I’ve really enjoyed the last few months and have been pleased with the game-time I’ve had. I feel I’m making good progress within this environment and look forward to contributing in the years ahead.

“There is so much potential here and we have so many young, quality players coming through – I really wanted to be part of that so it was an easy decision to make.”

Davies made his senior debut against the Scarlets in the Anglo-Welsh Cup three years ago and has since made 23 appearances for the region.

He made major progress at the tail end of last season and was rewarded with a place on Wales’ summer tour, where he won two caps.

The Cardiff-born powerhouse is set to face the Scarlets this weekend and has also been widely tipped to feature in Wales’ autumn schedule.

Cardiff Blues chief executive Richard Holland said: “It is great news that Seb has decided to remain with Cardiff Blues and I’m sure he will play a major role in the years ahead.

“Given his potential this is a major statement of intent as we continue to secure, and build upon, our home grown talent.”

Following the Guinness PRO14 clash with the Scarlets, the Blues return to Cardiff Arms Park on November 4, when they take on Connacht. Tickets for Cardiff Blues v Connacht, and their next home game against Zebre are on sale now.
