The Cardiff Blues got back to winning ways in the WRU Regional under 20 Championship with a 17-16 win over the unbeaten Scarlets at Llandovery RFC.
Early tries by Rhys Gill and Adam Powell after some great movement and ball retention put the Blues into a 14-0 lead after twenty minutes. However, the Scarlets to their credit came back to reduce the lead to 17-10 at the interval.
The second half proved to be a tense affair with lots of mistakes from both teams. The Scarlets through Aled Thomas chipped away at the Blues advantage to set up a nail biting climax. The Blues just hung on in there to take the points.
The next game for this group takes place at Sardis Road on 12th January 2005 against the Dragons.
In Tuesday night’s matches only Blues South were able to record a victory as the region’s other two teams were defeated at home.
