Reed to miss opening weeks of new season

21st August 2014

Second row Lou Reed is to miss the opening weeks of the new season after being ruled out with a finger injury.

Reed picked up a tendon injury during the home pre-season friendly with Exeter Chiefs and underwent minor surgery today (Thursday).

The lock will now commence rehabilitation and the medical team at Cardiff Blues have confirmed he is expected to miss the opening few games of the new campaign.

Meanwhile, utility back Tom Williams will also have an operation this weekend to repair a damaged cheekbone.

Williams suffered the injury during the World Club 7s competition at Twickenham, as Cardiff Blues were crowned the Plate champions at the home of English rugby.
