Poll Result: Which competition are you most looking forward too?

2nd September 2005

On the eve of the first competitive Cardiff Blues game of the season against Connacht in the Celtic League in Galway, we bring you the result of our summer website poll.

Cardiff Blues season ticket holders receive entry into all home games in the Celtic League, Powergen Cup and Heinken Cup as well as Cardiff RFC fixtures at Cardiff Arms Park in the Principality Premiership (or Glamorgan Wanderers or Pontypridd home games). We asked visitors of cardiffblues.com which of these competitions are they most looking forward too. The results are in:

Anglo-Welsh Cup - 33%
Celtic League - 16%
Heineken Cup - 40%
Welsh Premier Division - 11%

Despite the opening Celtic League game marking the start of the new season, it only recorded 16% of the votes, just 5% more than the semi-professional Welsh Premier Division games. The inaugural season of Powergen Cup between Guinness Premiership clubs and the Welsh regions, seems to have wet the appetite, gaining a third of the votes, despite the fact that only one home game is guaranteed - against Saracens on October 1st. Indeed it appears that despite mixed results in the Heineken Cup in recent years for Cardiff and Cardiff Blues, it is still the competition for supporters, attracting 40% of votes. We all hope the Blues can show improved performances in all competitions and look forward to a successful season ahead for all the teams in the Blues region.

A total of 2468 votes were recorded.
