Work is progressing well with the turf and the topsoil now having been removed. The next phase is levelling off of the pitch before the shock pad and playing surface can be fitted.

Speaking of the work, Cardiff Arms Park Head Groundsman Bryan Walker said,

“Phase one was taking all the soil from the field. We actually took 320 lorry loads off the field which equates to approximately 6,000 tons of soil.

“Phase two is laser levelling all the stones that are there now, so we’re taking the top to the bottom and the bottom to the top, to layer everything off.

“It will be a nice flat level surface by the time we finish this stage.

“The stage after that would be to put a terram white cloth over it, then another layer of finer stone on top of that then they layer that again and then compact that ready for the shock pad to be laid.

“Everything is on course so we are really pleased with the progress.”
