Old Illtydian RFC Community Rugby Day

4th November 2008

On Sunday 19th October 2008 at St Iltyds Roman Catholic High School Cardiff, over 80 children aged 8yrs - 15yrs attended an open rugby day.

ardiff Blues and Wales Star John Yapp was present at the event that was run in conjunction between Sport.Cardiff, Cardiff Blues and Old IItydian RFC to attract new players to the club's ever growing mini and junior section.

The children took part in fun skills stations delivered by Cardiff Blues Community Rugby Coaches and Old IItydian Coaches before finishing the day with a series of exhibition games at U8's, U10's and U12's.

Chairman of Old IItydian Mini and Juniors RFC John Manders said  “The day was a real success and we have attracted 17 new players to our club as a result.  We have the ability to run four mini and junior age groups out of the club this season, when compared to zero this time last year. With assistance funding via Community Chest and the help and support from Sport.Cardiff and Cardiff Blues, we hope to provide more opportunities in the near future.”
