Powerhouse prop Craig Mitchell is fired up for a big end to the season for Cardiff Blues as he prepares to face Scarlets in a crunch Welsh derby in the Guinness PRO12 on Sunday (kick-off 4pm).
Wales international Mitchell moved to Cardiff Blues from Exeter Chiefs last summer but has seen his appearances limited through injury this year.
However, the Neath-born front row returned to produce a massive performance in the Judgement Day III clash with former club Ospreys.
The 29-year-old – who has won 15 caps for Wales – will now pack down with Thomas Davies and Matthew Rees at Parc y Scarlets this weekend.
And the popular forward is keen to make up for lost time as he aims to finish the season on a high.
“It has been a frustrating season and it is well documented that I have had a few injuries, it is disappointing because I want to be part of the team,” he said. “Now I want to finish the last two games and the season on a high.
“I’ve had a few games with Cardiff and Pontypridd to get some time out on the field and that has put me in good stead to finish the season strongly.
“We haven’t had the wins that we wanted this season. It’s a tough league to play in and unfortunately we’ve come out the wrong end of it.
“Our focus is now on these last two games and giving it everything we have got. We have to do it and look to produce for the fans these last few weeks.”
