Scarlets V Cardiff Blues Parc y Scarlets, 6.30pm

The Blues travel to Parc y Scarlets boosted by two big away wins, having recorded a 33 to 24 point win over Ulster at Ravenhill in the Magners League and 55 point to 20 win over Newcastle Falcons in the north east of England in the Amlin Cup. Even more impressively the Blues have also won their last five away encounters.

They will be buoyed by the fact they have beaten Scarlets twice already this season, 19-15 at Cardiff City Stadium in the Magners League and 38-23 at Parc y Scarlets in the Anglo-Welsh Cup. However, Blues Director of Rugby, David Young knows that the Scarlets will be fiercely determined to record the win to maintain their hopes of reaching next years Heineken Cup tournament.

“We’ve been impressed with the Scarlets this season and know we are going to have to play well on the weekend to keep this momentum and confidence going.”

“Certainly the pressure is on them as they are eight points behind us. If they lose this game they are under even more pressure and it’s out of their hands if they qualify for the Heineken next season.”

If he features in the match Gethin Jenkins will make his 100th appearance for the Blues. The dynamic prop forward joined the region in the summer of the 2004 and his illustrious career has seen him start 91 matches, come off the bench 8 times and score 3 tries.
