Llewellyn drafted in to face defending champions France

Pathway | 7th June 2019

Cardiff Blues' Max Llewellyn has been drafted into the Wales under-20 starting line-up for Saturday's World Championship clash against defending champions, France.

Gareth Williams' side kicked off this year's campaign in perfect fashion, as they impressively toppled hosts Argentina in an entertaining opening clash earlier this week.

Joining Llewellyn in the side are Cardiff Blues academy team-mates Ioan Davies and Ben Warren, who retain their starting spots at full back and prop from the win over Los Pumas.

Llewellyn pairs up with Ospreys' Tiaan Thomas-Wheeler in midfield, as Dragons youngster, Aneurin Owen, is ruled out with a head injury.

A total of five changes has been made to the starting XV, with Dragons' Dafydd Buckland handed the number nine jersey in the absence of Harri Morgan, who is named on the bench after suffering with illness.

Tomi Lewis is the third change amongst the backline, while Iestyn Rees and Ed Scragg bolster the pack.

Wales have a tough task on their hands, as they look to keep their semi-final hopes alive, with Fiji the opposition in the final game of the pool stages.
